Q?
Why should I hire a tutor for my child?
-
A.
Parents hire tutors for a variety of reasons -- a few examples include students who are struggling in school and would like some extra help, advanced students who want to accelerate and enhance their education, high school juniors who want help preparing for the ACT or SAT test.

Q?
When should my child begin preparing for the ACT Test?
-
A.
Ideally, high school juniors should begin preparing for the ACT Test between 2-6 months before their test date. A student who begins test prep the summer before their junior year benefits from increased focus -- he or she is able to concentrate on test prep without needing to juggle their school coursework. Of course, a student can also be just as successful when they start their test prep sessions during the school year.

Q?
Should my student take a break during the summer?
-
A.
Research shows that students lose more than 2.6 months of grade level equivalency in math and reading skills over the summer.
At North Shore Academic Tutors, we see the opposite: students who return to school with sharper reading skills, stronger math skills, improved writing abilities, and higher test scores. Some of our students have skipped grades in subject-level material and others have added nearly ten points to their ACT scores.
With our fun, yet challenging summer enrichment, students can avoid the “summer slide” and increase skills and aptitude during the summer months. Our tutors are experts in their fields, but exceptional teachers as well. They make tough concepts easy for students to understand.
